Container gardens are an affordable way to brighten your home. Our company will plant up your containers and window boxes with beautiful splashes of color and texture. You don’t need to plant a whole garden to get the ambience you need. Great for any home, office, or condo.

You can even have a planting party and luncheon with The English Lady herself. Make a day of it and invite your friends. Send us an email with your contact info and our office will call you within 24 hours (Monday-Friday) to discuss your needs.

Hi
Hope this note finds you well.

I just planted flowers in pots to place around my yard. The morning after they were planted something dug a few of them up. I planted 4 types of plants Dianthus, Obsession, Black Dragon Coleus and one more whose name I can’t remember.
What can I do to keep the creatures away from these plants? Will paprika do it?
Please help.
Thanks Lydia
p.s. love hearing you in the mornings on 100.5

Sandy, sorry you missed the container tour however, the containers are still on display for the summer for your enjoyment. Essex books has three of The English Lady’s and window boxes. And our garden at The English Lady office at the rear of the parking lot behind the post office on Main Street is looking lovely. Stop by when you are in the area. Regards, Maureen

Dear Lydia, this month I will be on WRCH 100.5 this coming Monday June 15th from 8 to 9 a.m. Try sprinkling cayenne pepper on the soil, I think that will do the trick unless the guilty critters are Mexican and like hot spices. Good luck Maureen

Please Help! Something is eating the leaves of my morning glory and some of my Dahlias. Any suggestions how to stop this munching? Thanks.

I would like to know how to care for strawberry plants that are in containers during the winter. I find this site to be very helpful . Hope you can help me with this. Thank you .

Sandy, strawberries like full sun, in a sandy loam that is well drained and need one inch of water per week during the growing season. After the ground has frozen cover the plants with fresh straw or pine boughs. Pull this cover away in early spring, so the soil can warm up and the bees can get to the flowers to pollinate the blossoms. Good luck Maureen

Pam, on the website, click on”what to use in the garden” for the organic remedy and take a look at Soap Shield and Shield All II or if you think its rabbits or deer - deer off should do the trick as this is an organic odor and taste barrier for those creatures. Good luck Maureen

I transplanted rosemary from my veggie garden outside into a clay pot for the cold weather last week. Is there anything that I need to do for it besides water regularly and keep it near a sunny window?

admin 10.26.09 at 5:04 pm

Joanne, Rosemary is a notoriously finicky plant in this zone. It can be kept outdoors until September but must be kept well watered and misted. Keep it in a sunny window with a deep watering at least once a week and a misting or a spraying with water in the kitchen sink twice a week. Good luck Maureen

Lisa, either in the garden or in containers in that month, you can plant tomatoes, peppers, lettuce and late strawberries. Enjoy Maureen
